What is DTAC?

The Delivery Technology Advocacy Council (DTAC) was formed by leaders in the mailing and shipping industry who recognized the increasing importance of technology in delivery services as well as Postal Operations.   DTAC is a member driven organization who has focused on driving advances in postal and transportation technologies across the supply chain.

The Postal Service’s 2020-2024 strategic plan emphasizes the Service’s need to transform itself and includes this goal:

“Transform our middle-mile operations from a fixed processing and transportation network into an adaptive and resilient national and international logistics ecosystem that is faster, more visible, more efficient, more automated, digitally integrated, and supported by more public-private partnerships”

In coming years that transformation will depend on industry leadership to ensure that the delivery networks that support shipments and communications can adapt and thrive in a constantly changing environment.

DTAC was formed to ensure that delivery technology evolves and adapts to meet the needs of an increasingly complex supply chain.

In July of 2020, DTAC entered into a Purchase and Transfer Agreement for Mail.dat® and Mail.XML™. The specifications along with related User License Code program and all intellectual property will be owned and operated by DTAC.
